CERES Director Dr Yvonne Foley, along with Dr Naomi Flynn from University of Reading, delivered a webinar on September 4th 2020 as part of the event ‘The new normal for languages at home, school and in the community’. The event was co-organised by Scotland’s National Centre for Languages (SCILT) and Bilingualism Matters.

The presentation focused on ‘The Importance of Language Learning and Maintenance amid Brexit and COVID-19: Evidence from successful EAL practice’, setting out principles of pedagogy for EAL learners and what these look like in the primary and secondary school context.

A blog detailing the presentation, and that of lead speaker Professor Antonella Sorace, was prepared by Mattia Zingaretti, volunteer at Bilingulism Matters Edinburgh, and is available from University of Readings website.
